Genocide & Atrocities Prevention Act Introduced!

February 18, 2016
Dear Lisabeth,
We are very excited to announce that the Genocide and Atrocities Prevention Act (GAPA), S.2551, has been introduced in the Senate. Now we need your help to ensure the Act gets widespread bipartisan support. Ask your Senators to cosponsor GAPA by clicking the button below.

This is an important piece of legislation that will, among other things, authorize the Atrocities Prevention Board, and require that Foreign Service Officers be trained in how to identify early warning signs of genocide and mass atrocities. For more information on what GAPA will do, click here.

In an op-ed featured in The Hill, I made the case for why the Senate should pass GAPA, and why prevention must be prioritized in U.S. foreign policy.

Passing GAPA is an extremely important step in improving the U.S. government’s ability to prevent genocide and mass atrocities, and will show the next President that Congress and the American people care about these issues. Please take action today.
