Jayapura, Papua. Two members of the Ilaga Police’s Mobile Brigade (Brimob) were killed by unknown attackers on Wednesday morning while involved in Christmas preparations.
According to reports from news portal Kompas.com, Second Insp. Thomson Siahaan and Second Brig. Jeferson were shot dead in front of the Puncak district office in Ilaga.
Adj. Sr. Comr. Marcelis, head of the Puncak Jaya Police, confirmed the report to state-run news agency Antara.
The two Brimob officers were delivering chairs for a Christmas celebration at GKI Klasis Ilaga church, Marcelis added.
Officers from the Indonesian Military (TNI) and National Police have launched a hunt for the attackers, who are said to have taken the two officers’ assault rifles with them after the shooting. -end-
